Pune: Ajit Pawar says will install screens outside jumbo hospitals for relatives to see their patient inside

Pune: Amid several complaints regarding the functioning of jumbo hospital in Pune city, Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar has now asked authorities to install screens outside the facility to enable relatives to see their patients getting treatment inside. Pawar said, “It is not advisable to let relatives of Covid-19 patients enter the jumbo hospital facility and hence CCTV cameras should be installed inside and screens outside so that relatives will know where and how their patient is.”

When asked about the several complaints about jumbo hospitals, Ajit Pawar said that everything is fine in some jumbo hospitals. There were some complaints about jumbo hospital in Pune. I have instructed authorities to take action against the concerned and appoint a new team and specialist doctors there. Oxygen cylinders are in short supply not only in Pune but also in other parts of the state. The Divisional Commissioner has been instructed about the facilities at Jumbo Hospital.”

AMBULANCE INFORMATION AT ONE PLACE

Commenting on the unavailability of hospital beds, Ajit Pawar said, “We are collating information about isolation beds and oxygenated beds and how many of these are vacant. We are also gathering information on ambulances available with different community service organizations, corporations and health departments. The legislative assembly session will begin on Monday (September 7). It will consider what requirements the health department needs to be fulfilled.

SUDDEN RISE IN PATIENT COUNT CREATED PROBLEMS

Ajit Pawar said, “The number of beds in jumbo hospital was adequate. The number of patients grew faster than initially estimated. This put a strain on the system. Earlier, the setting up of the jumbo hospital had to deal with a natural disaster. Incessant rains had disrupted the construction work. An entire building in Sassoon was taken under control for Covid-19 patients. Problems were faced at Sassoon hospital too due to the rise in Covid-19 patients. Similar problems were faced at the COEP jumbo hospital facility.”
