Lucknow: MP Rita Bahuguna Joshi among 823 new corona patients, tally 29,572

LUCKNOW: BJP’s Allahabad MP and UP minister Rita Bahuguna Joshi (71) was among 823 people testing Covid-19 positive in the city on Thursday, mounting the caseload since the outbreak to over 29,500.
The MP has been admitted to Sanjay Gandhi Postgraduate Institute (SGPGI) on the advice of doctors. She updated about her health status through a tweet while requesting people who had come in contact with her in the past 24 hours to self-isolate and get themselves tested.
Over 30 state and national level politicians, including 15 minister-rank functionaries have so far tested positive in the state.
It was second time in five days when 800-plus cases were recorded in the city.
The overall tally stood at 29,572. Of these, 21,519 (82.8%), including 455 on Thursday, have recovered.
At present, there are 7,661 `active patients’ in hospitals and home quarantine.
