Covid-19: Thanjavur collector urges cured patients to donate plasma to save lives

TRICHY: Stating that plasma therapy is effective in curing critically ill Covid-19 patients, Thanjavur district collector M Govinda Rao on Friday appealed to recovered Covid-19 patients to donate their plasma.
The collector visited Thanjavur Government Medical College Hospital to send off two recovered Covid-19 patients. The patients recovered due to plasma therapy.
So far, the hospital cured 5,918 patients. He said that 30 people have so far registered themselves to donate their plasma. Five of them have already donated.
“We urge all the 5,918 people to come forward and donate their plasma as it will help in saving lives of other patients like Baskar and Ramesh, who were critically ill due to the infection,” the collector said.
While 119 patients died so far, the district has maintained a recovery rate of 84.2%. As many as 7,026 tested positive in the district totally. Also, more than two lakh people were tested for the infection in 4336 medical camps across the district.
