Covid-19 in Chennai: 600 people fined for not wearing mask

CHENNAI: The Greater Chennai Corporation on Friday imposed fine on 600 people for not wearing masks, an official release said.
The corporation imposed a total fine of Rs 2.45 lakh on commercial establishments which did not maintain physical distancing.
As many as 40 shops were shut down for the same reason across the city on Friday.
The corporation has so far collected a total fine of Rs 1.85 crore from people and commercial establishments for violating mask and physical distancing rules.
In May, the corporation made Covid-19 preventive measures stricter and started imposing fine on violators.
