Covid-19: Noida and Ghaziabad report first deaths in September

NOIDA/GHAZIABAD: As many A 138 persons tested positive for Covid-19 in Gautam Budh Nagar on Thursday. Also, an elderly woman died due to the virus — taking the death toll in the district to 46. This was the first Covid-related death in the district this month.
The woman was in the Government Institute of Medical Sciences (GIMS) in Greater Noida for two weeks and suffered from multiple comorbidities, including a paralysis stroke, diabetes, pneumonia and hypertension. Meanwhile, 86 patients were discharged from various hospitals in the district.
The total number of Covid cases has now risen to 8,333. According to the state report, there are 1,163 or 14% active cases while 46 patients or 0.6% have died to the infection.
In Ghaziabad, a 75-year-old woman died at a private hospital on Wednesday, registering the first Covid death in the district for this month.
So far, 69 Covid-related deaths have been reported in the district, a health official said.
As many as 183 cases were reported on Thursday, taking the tally to 8,767. Health officials informed that the city magistrate also tested positive for the virus. Besides, 395 patients were discharged from hospitals.
It is the second-highest number of patients to be discharged in 24 hours after July 23 — when it was 399. Currently, 1,249 patients are under treatment in hospitals and home isolation. The recovery rate of Ghaziabad is 84.96% while the case fatality rate is 0.78%.
