A quiet street in Sydney's inner west has been taped off after a man died from a gunshot wound to the chest.
Hours later, a second man was taken to hospital in a critical condition suffering gunshot wounds to the head.

Emergency services were called to a home on Henry Street, in Lewisham, just before 1pm on Friday, following concerns for the welfare of a man in his 30s.
The man was shot in his upper left chest.
The man, who was bleeding from the chest, was taken by ambulance to Petersham Oval where a helicopter dropped specialist paramedics to provide emergency medical assistance.
NSW Ambulance staff performed CPR on the man on a road next to the park in a desperate bid to save his life.

An ambulance carrying the man left Petersham about 2.20pm.
Police said he died on the way to hospital.
Heavily armed police officers, carrying guns and shields, took up their position outside a home in the street for several hours before leaving.
Three ambulances returned to the scene just before 4.30pm.
The second man was taken to hospital by ambulance under police guard and was in a critical condition.
Mick Buckley, who has lived in the area for 40 years, said he heard a helicopter flying overhead just after 1pm but did not hear anything leading up to the incident.
"It’s a bit of a shock; it’s a quiet street," he said.
Residents were told by police they would be unable to enter or leave the street, and those surrounding it, for several hours. Almost five hours later, many residents are still stuck behind police tape.
Inner West Police Area Command acting Superintendent Despa Fitzgerald said police were appealing for information, including as to who the victim was and if he had been with another person before the incident.
"The plan is to continue our canvass, establish the identity of the deceased and any witnesses and potential suspects," she said.
She added that no weapon had been found.
Police spoke to a woman who might have been a witness to the incident.
