Baramulla: Encounter between security forces and terrorists!

An encounter between militants and security forces began during the siege and search operation in Baramulla district of Jammu and Kashmir on Friday morning.


A police spokesperson said that on receiving intelligence about the presence of the terrorists, personnel of the National Rifles (RR), Jammu and Kashmir Special Operations Group (SOG), and Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) had one in Yedipora, PS, in Baramulla in the early hours today, started a joint campaign.

After sealing all exit routes, security forces launched a door-to-door search operation. He said that when the security forces were moving towards the targeted place, the terrorists hiding there started indiscriminate firing with automatic weapons. The security forces also retaliated after which the encounter started. A detailed description of the incident is awaited.

Meanwhile, official sources said that two to three militants are present in the area. Additional security forces and police personnel have been deployed in nearby areas to maintain law and order.
