MOHALI: A 15-year-old girl committed suicide by hanging herself from a ceiling fan of her room in Mohali. The deceased has been identified as Kushanpreet Kaur, a resident of Phase I and a student of Class X. The police said the girl took the extreme step as she was tensed due to noncompletion of her homework.
The police said a a suicide note has been recovered and they are veryfying the handwriting. Sub-inspector Amandeep Kaur, investigating officer, said, “We have initiated proceedings under Section 174 of the CrPc. The body of the deceased has been handed over to the family members after the post-mortem.”
In another incident, a 55-year-old man committed suicide in Derabassi after jumping in front of a train on Thursday afternoon. The deceased has been identified as Satpal Singh, a resident of Derabassi. The incident took place around 3.45pm.
