Textile firm owner Aman SalujaSurat: After diamond units, employees of textile sectors have also come forward to donate plasma in the city to help Covid-19 patients. According to sources, six employees of a textile firm, Sahiba Textile Ltd in Kadodara taluka of Surat, donated their plasma at Surat Municipal Corporation (SMC) run SMIMER Hospital.
Textile firm owner Aman Saluja said that a total 21 employees have pleaded to donate their plasma of which six of them have donated and remaining 15 will donate in the coming week.
‘We conducted antibody tests of 500 employees of which 21 were diagnosed with Covid-19 positive. As convalescent plasma is being used to treat Covid-19 patients. So, we encourage our employees to donate their plasma and help patients who are undergoing treatment,” Aman Saluja added.
“We are also preparing a list of relative of employees who may have tested positive and recovered and will also encourage them too to donate plasma,” Bishvanath Singh, Head, H R division of Sahiba Textile Ltd, said.
“I donated my plasma as it will help two Covid-19 patients in their recovery. I am a regular blood donor and so far donated blood on 25 occasions,” said Shailesh Rathod, driver with the firm.
Over 520 people have donated their plasma at SMIMER Hospital till now. According to sources, in total, over 900 people have donated their plasma in four blood banks in the city which got nod for plasma collections.
