The number of laboratories testing the coronavirus (COVID-19) across the country has increased to 1,631. According to data released by the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) on Friday, eight names have been added to the list of laboratories that have tested corona infection in the last 24 hours. These include 1,025 government and 606 private laboratories.


At present, RT PCR based testing laboratories are 827 (Government- 465, Private- 362 while TrueNet based testing laboratories are 683 (Government: 526, Private: 157) and CBNAAT based testing laboratories are 121 (Government: 34, Private: 87).

These 1,631 laboratories examined 11,69,765 samples on 03 September. In this way, more than 4,66,79,145 samples have been tested so far. This is the second consecutive day when more than 11.5 million samples have been tested across the country in a single day.

According to the Union Ministry of Health and Family, despite accelerating the investigation, the daily corona positivity rate in the country is less than seven and a half percent, which is a relief.

Since the arrival of 83,341 new cases of corona infection in the last 24 hours, the number of people suffering from the infection has increased to 39,36,747 from 39 lakh. In the case of active infection with infection, only 15,586 cases have been registered. There are currently 8,31,124 active cases of corona infection across the country.

It is noteworthy that till January 23, only one laboratory in Pune in the country had the facility of coronavirus test which increased to 16 on March 23, and now 1,631 laboratories across the country are engaged in testing coronavirus infection.
