Dodge Adds Widebody Pack To 2021 Challenger T/A 392 And R/T Scat Pack Shaker

You can soon have your 2021 Dodge Challenger R/T Scat Pack Shaker and T/A 392 models with the carmaker’s Widebody Package.

Pricing for the Challenger R/T Scat Pack Shaker Widebody starts from $47,690, while the T/A 392 Widebody costs upwards of $49,090, both figures excluding destination charges. Still, regardless of how soon you place your order, these cars won’t arrive in showrooms until early next year.

“The Widebody on Charger and Challenger continues to gain traction, making way for wider wheels and tires, which means more grip and faster times at the drag strip,” said FCA exec Tim Kuniskis. “Bringing that Widebody capability to the Challenger R/T Scat Pack Shaker and T/A 392 allows us to stick to that successful formula and offer more performance to more members of the Brotherhood of Muscle.”

Both cars feature the same naturally aspirated 392 HEMI V8 engine, good for 482 HP (488 PS), and 475 lb-ft (644 Nm) of torque. The unit is mated to a Tremec six-speed manual gearbox as standard, but you can also have a TorqueFlite eight-speed automatic transmission as an optional extra.

In the case of the Challenger R/T Scat Pack Shaker Widebody, you gain an extra 3.5 inches of overall width to go with the 305/35ZR20 Pirelli tires, SRT-tuned chassis, and adaptive damping suspension. The car also boasts paddle shifters, a dual-extractor hood, and SRT Performance Pages with drive modes and Line Lock.

You also get a Mopar cold-air intake, conical air filter, and optimized air box for improved performance. Visually, there’s even a ‘SHAKER’ underhood decal.

According to Dodge, opting for the Widebody Package will result in an improvement of nearly 2 seconds per lap (or 12 car lengths) compared to the old R/T Scat Pack configuration. As for your 1/4 mile times, you gain 0.2 seconds for a 12.1 second run at 112 mph (180 km/h). This goes for both the R/T Scat Pack Shaker Widebody as well as the T/A 392.

Speaking of the T/A 392, this 2021 Widebody variant comes with a Satin Black hood, wrap roof and deck lid, T/A side stripes, black spoiler with T/A decal, 392 fender decal, Air Catcher headlights with LED T/A logos, NACA ducted hood, 1971-inspired “tic-toc-tach” gauge cluster with Bright White concave faces and gloss black details, plus performance seats, which can even be heated and ventilated if you opt for the Nappa leather ones.

Which of these two Challengers do you find more appealing?
