NEW DELHI: The banned CPI (Maoist) central committee has denied that its leader Muppala Lakshmana alias Ganapathy may “surrender”. The party accused the government of spreading “malicious rumours” to weaken the morale of the party and its supporters. Ganapathy, who was the party’s general secretary had stepped down from his post on health grounds, a couple years ago.
There is no truth in the “news” doing the rounds about the possibility of Ganapathy thinking of surrendering, it said in a statement.
“We are condemning Modi government’s brutal lie of the Ganapathy surrender story. This propaganda conspiracy has been planned…. Comrade Ganapathy had voluntarily taken the decision to quit from the party’s general secretary’s responsibilities two years ago due to age and common ailments. This is a common thing… it has no relation with the brutal lie. To deceive people and sidetrack...the Modi government is maliciously propagating the “surrender story,” the statement said.
The party alleged that the governments of Telangana, Chhattisgarh and the Centre are trying “to damage the reputation of our party leadership internationally.”
"The Modi government has failed internally and externally on all fronts. To build confidence in the corporate forces and foil confidence of people in our party, the traitors created the surrender story… we are appealing to the people to throw them out… we are committed to the cause of the people… people should condemn the propaganda….” the release said.
The Maoist party claimed “Ganapathy’s surrender story” has been “concocted” to divert people’s attention from the “severe economic recession, the covid-19 pandemic related situation, the sea of protests rising against the government on various issues, the Centre’s inability to sort out issues with China and losing face over Galwan, etc.”
