
A grade nine pupil has died and a three-year-old has been left injured after they were hit by a car on the N2 south bound near Westwood Mall in Durban.
The pair were crossing the road when they got hit by the car on Friday morning.
According to Life Response paramedics spokesperson Leon Fourie, they responded to a serious motor collision at 06:30 on Friday.
Fourie said when they arrived at the scene, they found a body lying on the road.
Police spokesperson Captain Nqobile Gwala said that the pupil was carrying a baby believed to be 18-months-old. However, Fourie said the todder was three-years-old.
"The three-year-old was treated on the scene before being taken to the nearest hospital for medical treatment," Fourie added.
Police are investigating a case of culpable homicide.
