The Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) on Friday told a Mumbai court that Basit Parihar, who was arrested on Wednesday along with Zaid Vilatrawith in the drug trafficking probe linked to actor Sushant Singh Rajput’s death case, revealed that he used to procure drugs as per the instructions of actor Rhea Chabraborty’s brother, Showik Chakraborty.

Parihar was today remanded in the NCB custody till September 9.

“Parihar, in his statement, revealed that he used to procure drugs from Vilatra and another person Kaizan Ibrahim as per the instructions of Showik Chakraborty,” the NCB was quoted as saying by PTI.

The agency also said that there are other instances where Parihar facilitated to arrange for drugs and was in contact with Showik.

“It is clear from the statements of the accused that he was an active member of drug syndicates connected with high society personalites and drug suppliers,” the NCB added.

Earlier in the day, a NCB team raided residence of Bollywood actor Rhea Chakraborty under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act as part of its probe into the case.

Similar searches were carried out at the residence of Samuel Miranda, who was Rajput’s house manager.

Showik and Miranda were also summoned by the agency for further questioning in the case. “They have intended to go along (with the search team) due to media presence,” an officer told PTI.

The NCB team accompanied by police officials raided the residence of Showik in Santa Cruz (west) area and Miranda’s house in suburban Andheri (west) area of the western metropolis from 6:30 am. Showik lives with Rhea.

The search teams, included some women officials who were seen wearing masks and gloves, and using multiple vehicles.

Rhea’s lawyer Satish Maneshinde said he did not want to comment on the NCB’s claims. Rhea earlier said she has never used drugs.
