Food retailer, Spar, has appointed current MD of its South Rand division Brett Botten as its new group CEO, with effect from March 2021.

Botten is to succeed Graham O'Connor after the group's 2021 annual general meeting. O'Connor will move to become the board's non-executive chair.

Botten, a qualified chartered accountant, has been with the group since 1994 and has held his current position as MD of Spar's South Rand division since 2010.

The board thanked O'Connor for his tenure as Group CEO and member of the international board, which he served for 6 years.
