Ranchi: The
Covid toll in East Singhbum crossed the 200-mark as the district recorded three of six deaths in Jharkhand. With 202 deaths, the steel capital accounts for 45% of the state’s coronavirus toll of 444. The other three deaths were recorded in Dhanbad, Deoghar and Ranchi. In another milestone, with 30,835 tests on Thursday,

The state continued to report a spike in fresh infections with 1,587 cases on Thursday. Ranchi again recorded the highest with 435 cases, followed by East Singhbhum with 328. Three other districts reported a three-digit figure with Giridih clocking 142, Bokaro 135 and Hazaribag 105. Saraikela recorded 81 and Ramgarh with 63 cases.
The cumulative Covid caseload in state now stands at 46,480, of which 15,150 are active and 28,886 have recovered (including 1,121 on Thursday). Ranchi and East Singhbhum have the highest number of active patients with 4,156 and 2,553 cases respectively.
The seven-day growth rate continued to increase and stood at 4.27%. The seven-day doubling rate also fell to around 16 days, 50% lesser than the national average of around 33 days.
