Gurgaon: Sixteen
prisoners lodged in Bhondsi
jail have tested positive for Covid-19, the health department said on Wednesday. They have been shifted to the Sector 9 isolation centre and a total of 172 contacts have been tested.
“We had received a request from the jail to test the prisoners for Covid and 16 samples returned positive on Tuesday. We are trying to find out the source of infection,” said Gurgaon chief medical officer Virender Yadav.
Moreover, 16 NSG commandos also tested positive on Wednesday. They had come in contact with 10 of their colleagues who were found positive for Covid on Friday. “We have asked the NSG to direct all commandos to get tested before entering Gurgaon. Since the last few days, we have been conducting more RT-PCR than antigen tests as the cases are rising,” Yadav said.
