City police arrested four snatchers from different parts of the city and seized eight mobile phones, an autorickshaw and a two-wheeler used for the offences.

The cyber cell of Adyar police district helped crack a robbery case reported on August 28 since the accused Karuppu alias John Paul (36) used the robbed phone with his own SIM card. He was secured with the help of the phone location feature.
Investigation revealed that John Paul, along with his accomplice, followed victims in an autorickshaw and robbed pedestrians at knifepoint. On August 29, the duo attacked and robbed one Saravanan of KK Nagar of his mobile phone, said police.
Similarly, Tirumullaivoyal police arrested two men for attacking a cab driver and robbing him of his mobile phone and Rs 3,000. The accused were identified as V Bhuvaneshwaran (19) and M Noor Amin (20) of Avadi and a two-wheeler were seized apart from a two-wheeler.
Meanwhile, Otteri police arrested a phone snatcher within hours after the crime on Monday. The accused R Karthik (23) of Otteri snatched a phone from a pedestrian on Monday night, said police. He was remanded on Tuesday and police said that he has seven cases pending against him.
Six stolen bikes seized, 2 held
Neelankarai police arrested two men and seized six stolen bikes from them. The accused Manikandan (24) and Govindhan (22) of Semmanchery stole bikes and indulged in crimes with the vehicles, said police. The duo has cases pending against them in Velachery, Neelankarai, Tambaram and Selaiyur. The two were remanded in judicial custody.
