Trichy private schools collecting excess fees warned of action

TRICHY: Trichy district chief education officer has warned private schools of action if found violating the Madras high court order on collecting excess tuition fees from parents.
The Tamil Nadu government passed an order on April 20 restraining all private schools and colleges across the state from demanding fees citing the Covid-19 outbreak.
All India private educational institutions associations had challenged the order. Following this, in July, the Madras high court permitted unaided private schools to collect tuition fees in two instalments. They were allowed to collect 40% of the fee before August 31 from parents and the balance was to be collected within two months from the date of reopening of schools.
Trichy district chief education officer S Santhi said parents can email a complaint along with proof of excess fee collected by schools to ceotrichy.complaints@gmail.com.
