GREATER NOIDA: More than 2 lakh individuals in the city have been tested for Covid-19. Interestingly, the first 1 lakh tests were conducted over five months while the rest -- 1 lakh -- were completed in a month. While the first 1 lakh tests were completed by July 30, the next 1 lakh tests were conducted in just 34 days.
Officials said that they will continue to maintain the testing capacity. GB Nagar district magistrate Suhas LY said, "We have adequate beds and resources to look after the patients who need medical supervision. Surveillance activity in containment zones and screening camps in colonies and apartment complexes will continue."
Meanwhile, following the Union government's Unlock 4.0 guidelines, the administration has started uploading the list of containment zones on its portal. Officials said that the file will be updated on a daily basis.
Earlier, residents had to struggle to get a copy of the list of containment zones. However, now a special section has been created on the website gbnagar.nic.in for containment zones and the list will be updated there. On Wednesday, 293 zones were earmarked for sealing.
Sharing details of the strategy followed to test people, health officials said that till July 10, the teams had carried out around 33,000 tests in the district and the total patient count at that time was 3,260 which translated into a positivity rate of around 10% at that time.
However, at present when the total patient count has increased to 8,197, the positivity rate in the district has come down to 4%. Officials revealed that over the past 15 days, tests through RTPCR technology have also been scaled up.
Of the 2 lakh tests, over 72,000 were conducted through RT-PCR and close to 1.25 lakh were done through rapid antigen kits.
