Covid-19 spreads tentacles in rural Vadodara

Vadodara: Covid-19 now seems to be spreading in the areas of Vadodara district outside the city limits. As many as 36 of the 123 positive cases in the city and district were from outside the Vadodara Municipal Corporation (VMC) limits.
Sources said that more cases had come to light from Fertilizernagar that houses GSFC Ltd located outside the city limits. Also, cases were reported from Karjan, Dabhoi, Kayavarohan, Shinor, Padra, Ranoli, Bajwa, Karachiya and Karodiya.
In the city limits administered by VMC, Covid-19 now seems to be spread evenly with no major different in the number of persons testing positive in different zones barring some exceptional days when high number of cases are reported from a particular zone.
Tests since Tuesday evening revealed that 24 positive cases were found in the south zone of the VMC while 22 were detected in the north. As many as 21 new patients were identified in the west zone and 20 in the east zone.
With the 123 new cases, the total number of cases in the city and district increased to 8,308. The new cases were found from 2,391 tests.
As many as 97 persons were discharged from hospitals or home isolation in the city leaving 1,611 under treatment. The total number of discharged persons now stands at 6,552. This includes those persons who tested positive for Covid-19, but died later due to comorbidities or some other ailments being the primary cause of death.
VMC also confirmed that the deaths of two persons that had taken place earlier were due to Covid-19 being the primary cause. The total number of such deaths now stands at 145.
