Covid testing touches another all time high in Tamil Nadu

Chennai: As many as 80,864 people were tested on Thursday for Covid-19 in Tamil Nadu, the highest so far. Earlier on Sunday, testing had touched an all-time high of 80,100.

Further, while Chennai continued to report the highest number of cases among districts, it was the first time in weeks that the number went below 1000. A total of 968 people tested positive for Covid-19 in Chennai on Thursday.

Tamil Nadu reported 5,892 new cases of Covid-19 on Thursday, taking the state’s total tally to 445,851.

The number of deaths reported remained under 100 on Thursday, at 92. A state bulletin said 7,608 people had so far died due to the disease.

As many as 6,110 people were discharged, pushing the total recoveries to 386,173.
