Panaji: Taleigao panchayat office has been shut for spraying and disinfecting as the panchayat secretary tested positive for COVID-19 on Wednesday.
Around 10 staff members and all the panch members including those who came in contact with the panchayat secretary have been asked to stay in quarantine.
All the panchayat staff members and panch members will take the swab test on Friday morning at old panchayat office.
Panchayat officials said that the panchayat secretary had visited Porvorim health centre to get his check up done for leg pain and was not showing any symptoms for the virus but as a precaution took the swab test and was found positive for COVID-19.
The panchayat secretary used to visit the panchayat office regularly and had come in contact with locals from the village. He was also involved in supplying food essentials to those who opted for home isolation, panchayat officials said.
He had recently attended a panchayat meeting involving sarpanch and panch members.
