Punjab: Patiala reports 95 new Covid-19 cases, 5 deaths

PATIALA: The district on Thursday reported 95 new Covid-19 cases, taking the tally to 6,692 while five more deaths pushed the toll to 179.
So far, 5,065 coronavirus patients have recovered while 1,448 are active cases.
Patiala civil surgeon Dr Harish Malhotra said, “There are total 14 micro-containment zones in the district. Among the positive cases reported on Thursday, 44 were from Patiala city, four from Samana block, 11 from Rajpura, 10 from Nabha, and 26 from different villages. We appeal the masses to avoid rumour mongering and sampling of Covid was for benefit of public only. The village Panchayats and youth and others should come forward and create awareness among the masses to fight collectively against the Covid-19.”
Meanwhile in Ropar, three deaths were reported and 23 others tested positive of coronavirus infection, taking the tally to 994 so far. The death toll in the district has risen to 23.
