Sheridan described the experience as "scary, frustrating and lonely" and said he didn't know how he had contracted the virus.

"I had a negative result when I arrived, I now know all my friends including who took me to LAX airport are all negative so it's been confusing for me," he said in an Instagram post on Wednesday. "This virus is seriously clever ... I got it in a very short space of time (in transit or a surface) while I had minimal human contact."

After contracting the virus from close family friends who weren't aware they were ill, the Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw star said his daughters, Jasmine, 4, and Tiana, 2, had suffered mildly while he and his wife Lauren experienced more severe symptoms. All four are now through the worst of the illness and no longer contagious.

Johnson is due to arrive in Australia later this year to commence filming on his biographical comedy series called Young Rock. The 11-episode series will follow Johnson's transformation from WWE wrestler to Hollywood movie star. It will be shot in Queensland, with the search for a cast already underway.
