Maharashtra Tourism Development Corporation (MTDC) has inked a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Taj Group, for developing a five-star tourism center in the Sindhudurg district of Maharashtra.
With this collaboration, MTDC aims to further reinforce the region’s position in the international travel and tourism sector.
The hospitality company aims investing Rs. 100 crore during the first phase of the project. Taj – the chain of luxury hotels, will soon operate in Sindhudurg.
Aaditya Thackeray, the Cabinet minister of Tourism and Environment, Government of Maharashtra tweeted, “Taj Hotels signed with Maharashtra Tourism for a resort in Sindhudurg. They are also coming up with a hotel near Tadoba. That’s only the beginning. Our department is working 24/7 to ensure that Maharashtra shines on the tourism map of India soon, creating jobs and revenue for the state. As young ministers in the department, Minister Aditi Tatkare and I see the potential and the value tourism holds to our state. Just like the signing with Taj, we are working on multiple avenues to be opened up for tourism purposes in the state.”
Indian Hotels Company (IHCL) owning the Taj brand, recently announced signing of aSeleQtions hotel in Tadoba Andhari Tiger Reserve, Maharashtra (Chandrapur district). This greenfield project is expected to be launched in 2022.
