India's Sumit Nagal advanced to the second round of the men's singles after outclassing American Bradley Klahn 6-1, 6-3, 3-6, 6-1 at the US Open in New York, on Tuesday.
Nagal is the first Indian to win a singles main draw match at a Grand Slam in seven years, since Somdev Devvarman had reached the second round of Australian Open, French Open and US Open in 2013.
In the next round, Nagal will face the winner of the first round match between second seed Austria’s Dominic Thiem and Spain’s Jaume Munar.
