The guidelines for the fourth phase of exemption from COVID-19 lockdown issued by the Maharashtra government come into force on Wednesday, the day after the conclusion of the Ganapati festival.


Even as the Uddhav Thackeray-led Maharashtra Vikas Agadi (MVA) government has announced a major relaxation in this phase (called Unlock 4), the general lockout in the state will continue till September 30, mainly in the Includes virus outbreaks.

Here's everything that changes from September 2:

- Relaxation of Inter-District Movement: The State Government has allowed the inter-district movement of persons and goods including cross-land border trade for treaties with neighboring countries, beginning on Wednesday. People no longer need an e-pass to make such a journey.

An official said the reservation process has been enabled and from September 2, people can travel on long-distance trains. He said that this journey would be limited to special trains, which are being given to Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, and other states, adding that the Railways are currently running 32 such trains and there will be no change in frequency.

As before, these trains will now stop at various stations in the state based on their scheduled stops.

-Hotels can work with entire staff: Hotels, guest houses, and lodges in Maharashtra can now resume their operations with a 100% staff strength up to one-third of their capacity from 8 July.

- Private passenger buses and minibusses have also been allowed to operate.

- Thackeray government has permitted to increase presence in offices during Unlock 4. According to the notification, private offices can now operate up to 30% of their strength (or 30 employees, whichever is greater).

-In government offices, all officers of class A and B category have been asked to appear in the daily office, while the presence of classes C and D, except the Mumbai metropolitan area and Pune, in areas up to 50% or a minimum of 50 employees. has been increased.

- “Gyms and religious places will also be allowed to open. Even the Center has given a waiver in a phased manner and some of them became effective from 21 September. We have enough time to think about getting more rest by then.

What hasn't changed

- Inter-state travel remains suspended: Even though the state has allowed the inter-district movements to resume, the inter-state travel remains suspended.

- Although the Center has permitted to resume the operation of metro trains from 7 September, the Maharashtra government has decided to continue the ban on the operation of metro services in Mumbai for at least a month.

- Schools, colleges, educational institutions, theaters, swimming pools, bars will remain closed till 30 September, the notification states.
