01/8Glimpses from Ganesh Visarjan
Pune's Ganesh visarjan is what people travel to see. The sounds of the dhol tasha, the five 'manache ganpati' that are part of a beautiful immersion procession saw a toned down version in 2020 with the Covid19 pandemic. The occasion, which is celebrated with great vigour in Maharashtra, embraced a new face to ensure that social distancing norms were followed. Unlike the previous years, individuals have taken to home visarjans or limited the number of people who would join the ceremony. But this did not stop devotees in Pune to give Lord Ganesha a grand farewell, only this time, with their masks on. Police officials were also present to prevent crowding.
