Union minister Hardeep Singh Puri said Metro train services will resume in a graded manner from September 7 across the country, except in Maharashtra, and passengers will have to follow preventive measures.

Ahmedabad: sero-survey suggests 23.24 pc people have COVID-19 anti-bodies
- A new sero-survey conducted by the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation showed that 23.24 per cent of samples had antibodies against coronavirus, indicating that the city has not developed a herd immunity.
- Another survey, conducted to find the prevalence of antibodies among those who have recovered from COVID-19, revealed that 40 percent of such people did not have the antibodies, he said.

U.S. FDA to bring outside experts to review COVID-19 vaccines
- The U.S. Food and Drug Administration will organize meetings with independent group of experts to review data of coronavirus vaccine candidates and advice the agency, FDA commissioner Stephen Hahn said on Wednesday.
- The statement comes after U.S. President Donald Trump last month accused members, without evidence, of a so-called "deep state" working within the FDA of complicating efforts to test COVID-19 vaccines in order to delay results until after the Nov. 3 presidential election.

- The Chandigarh administration has introduced a COVID-19 'help desk' to regularly monitor the health of the virus-infected people who are in home isolation.
- The administration has set up this special help desk due to surge in COVID-19 cases.

The frequency of trains will need to be regulated. Stations in containment zones will remain closed. Wearing face masks will be mandatory. Only asymptomatic persons will be allowed to travel after thermal screening. Adequate time at stations to be provided to enable smooth boarding/deboarding ensuring social distancing. Metro rail corporations may also resort to skipping of stations to ensure proper social distancing. Use of Aarogya Setu App to be encouraged.

12 States/UTs have recovery rate more than national average, says Health Ministry
- The Health Ministry stated that at least 12 States including Union Territories (UTs) have a COVID19 recovery rate more than the national average which is 76.98 per cent.
- These States and UTs include Delhi (88.50 per cent), Bihar (87.90 per cent), Tamil Nadu (86.20 per cent), Andaman and Nicobar Island (85.90 per cent), West Bengal (83 per cent), Rajasthan (81.90 per cent), Haryana (81 per cent), Gujarat (80.80 per cent), Nagaland (80 per cent) and Daman and Diu and Dardar Nagar and Haveli (88.90 per cent).
- According to the government data, two states -- Maharashtra and Tamil Nadu, alone account for around 30 per cent of the total recoveries.

- The UN Security Council will hold a high-level summit during the annual meeting of world leaders at the General Assembly later this month to discuss security threats in the world after the COVID-19 pandemic ends.
- Niger's UN Ambassador Abdou Abarry, who took over the rotating council presidency on Tuesday, told a virtual press conference on Tuesday that the meeting of the UN's most powerful body will take place online on September 24.
- Abarry said the meeting "on post-COVID-19 global governance in relation to the maintenance of international peace and security" will address traditional security threats such as conflicts but also crime and pandemics as well as “adjustments” to the current international system.
Noida MLA Pankaj Singh undergoing COVID-19 treatment at AIIMS: Source
- The condition of the BJP's Uttar Pradesh vice-president and Noida MLA Pankaj Singh, who is undergoing treatment at the AIIMS after testing positive for COVID-19, is stable, sources said on Wednesday.
- He was admitted to AIIMS' Trauma Centre, which is a dedicated COVID-19 facility, on Tuesday evening and is being attended to by a team of doctors led by Dr Neeraj Nischal, an associate professor in the department of medicine at the premier institute.
Five more MLAs test positive in Rajasthan
- A Congress MLA and three BJP legislators had tested positive for the virus last week.
- "I have come to know Congress MLAs Ramlal Jat ji and Rafeek Khan ji, BJP MLAs Rajendra Rathore ji, Ashok Lahoti ji and Arjun Lal Jeengar ji have tested positive for Covid-19. I wish them a speedy recovery," Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot said in a tweet.

Delhi LG gives nod to resume metro services: Sources
- Delhi Lieutenant Governor Anil Baijal gave his nod to Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal-led government's suggestion to resume the metro services in the national capital, according to the sources.
- Baijal's approval came during a meeting of the District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) held today.
Nanded records 312 new COVID-19 cases; collector infected
- With 312 persons testing positive for coronavirus infection, the caseload in Maharashtra's Nanded district has reached 7,027, an official said on Wednesday.
- District collector Dr Vipin Itankar has also contracted the deadly infection and is undergoing treatment at the civil hospital, the official said.
- At least eight deaths were reported in Nanded in the last two days, taking the toll in the district to 237, the official said.
Uttarakhand CM quarantines himself after OSD tests positive for COVID-19
- Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat has gone into self-quarantine once again with his OSD testing positive for COVID-19, official sources said on Wednesday.
- A meeting of the state cabinet scheduled for Wednesday has been postponed as a result, the sources said.
- Rawat had earlier gone into self-quarantine for three days as a precaution on August 25 after one of his advisors had tested positive for COVID-19 leading to the postponement of a meeting of the state cabinet scheduled to be held on August 26.
