Congress President Sonia Gandhi, former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, Rahul Gandhi, and Priyanka Vadra expressed deep condolences on the demise of former President Pranab Mukherjee on Monday.
In a condolence message, Mrs. Gandhi sent a letter to Mr. Pranab Mukherjee's daughter and Congress leader Sharmishtha Mukherjee today, "Mr. Mukherjee has played an important role in giving direction to the country and Congress in his political life of more than five decades. I have long experience working with them and I have learned a lot from them. The party will always remember the contribution he has made in advancing Congress.
He said that Mr. Mukherjee has worked continuously in the development of the country and he was involved in national interests for a lifetime. His contribution to advancing the country, progress of Congress, and national development has been in the central government. He was rich in knowledge, experience, and sensible personality and his understanding and advice was the solution to every crisis and in his absence, it will always be there.
Former Congress president Rahul Gandhi said his hobby message: There was some unfortunate news about the death of former President Pranab Mukherjee. I pay tribute to him and deep condolences to the bereaved family members and their friends at this moment of grief. Former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh said, "He and I worked very closely in the Indian government. I depended on his immense intelligence, improper knowledge and his experience of public affairs. In this hour of grief, I express my condolences to his family members.
Congress General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra said that the death of former President Pranab Mukherjee is an irreparable loss for the entire country. Pranab da was a mentor and a skilled politician guiding the entire Congress family. May God give courage to his family in this hour of grief.
Ghulam Nabi Azad, Leader of the Opposition in the Rajya Sabha, described the great damage to the country and himself and said that he was his true friend and guide. Congress leader Ahmed Patel has also expressed grief over the demise of Mr. Mukherjee. Congress leader and former Union Minister P Chidambaram also mourned the demise of Shri Mukherjee at the party press conference and said that there will be no one in the country who is not familiar with his name and who is not aware of his contribution in the development of the country.
