He’s already the best coach in NFL history, so it shouldn’t be shocking that all it took was one commercial for Bill Belichick to enter the pantheon of fast food pitchmen.

Plenty of people mocked the idea of the New England Patriots’ legendary coach doing a commercial for Subway when pics of the Belichick filming leaked online. Clearly the personality the coach shows in press conferences doesn’t align with that of a fast-food pitchmen, but the product Subway released Tuesday showed a different side.

Former players have told stories of Belichick’s dry wit and they seem pretty accurate. His debut spot was pretty solid as far as fast-food commercials go.

The coach clowns a man in a suit for carrying a bucket of cheap fast-food chicken, the guy says he should get a delicious sub from Subway because it would be better.

Belichick flashes scissors, cuts the guy’s sleeves off and drops a "and now you look better, too."

So maybe it’s not Dave Chappelle funny and probably won’t win Belichick a Clio to add to his mantle of Super Bowl rings, but it should get him some internet karma and perhaps a joke or two the next time the Patriots have a film session.
