Greater Noida: Afterdoubling its capacity and adding more beds, the Government Institute of MedicalSciences (GIMS), Greater Noida, has launched a hunt for doctors and paramedicalstaffers to join its Covid-19 war room.
GIMS director Dr Rakesh Kumar Gupta said, “We have adequate resources to look after patients undergoing treatment at our facility. However, since we expanded the ward and increased the total number of beds from 130 to 250 recently, additional manpower will be required in the coming days and hencewe are coordinating with concerned departments.”
It is likely that more staff will be brought from hospitals in other districts.
Due to the rising number of cases over the past weekend, thehospital got packed to capacity with more than 130 patients landing up at thehospital. Having capacity of treating 10 people in the intensive care wardoriginally, the authorities are now deploying additional resources to handlethe rush.
Sources revealed that on Saturday and Sunday, GIMS raised afresh alarm for getting more manpower after its existing resources were at theverge of exhaustion due to increased patient count. A meeting was also convenedon Monday by the administrative officials. GB Nagar chief development officer Anil Kumar Singh said that the budget allocated for GIMS has been approved. “So funds can be utilised to hire the required manpower,” he said.
