Five illegal immigrants bound for Bengaluru nabbed along Indo-Bangladesh border in West Bengal

KOLKATA: Illegal immigrants rounded up from Karnataka and sent back to Bangladesh seem to be making efforts to trickle back in. Early on Tuesday, troops of the Border Security Force (BSF), apprehended five Bangladeshi nationals attempting to cross over into India near the Ramnagar BOP in the Nadia district of West Bengal. They included a minor.
"Acting on reliable information received from the BSF intelligence branch, Amit Kwatra, company commander, BOP Ramnagar, planed an operation by troops of the 8 Bn. Early on Tuesday, the patrolling party observed some suspicious movement ahead of the fence. On being challenged, they started running towards the Icchamati River. The BSF party gave chase and succeeded in apprehending them. The group included three women and a 15-year-old boy. The adults have been identified as of Basirhat, Bangladesh, Salma Seikh of Barisal, Reema Seikh from Narail and Reena Seikh of Bagerhat and her nephew," a senior BSF official said.
The four adults said that they were on their way to Bengaluru to work as labourers and domestic helps. They said how a person named Kamal had helped them cross over into India. Their contacts in Bengaluru are Milan Seimh, Karen and Madhur. The five have been handed over to the Hanskhali police station.
"The BSF, South Bengal Frontier, is taking all measures to prevent the illegal immigration of Bangladeshis. Many of those apprehended have said how they worked in places like Mumbai, Kolkata and Bengaluru. Some of them even possessed Indian identity documents," the official added.
