Pranab Mukherjee a father figure: West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee

Chief minister Mamata Banerjee deeply mourned former President Pranab Mukherjee, saying he was a father figure to her for decades. “From my first win as MP to being my senior cabinet colleague to his becoming President, to when I became CM... so many memories,” she said.
The state government has decided to keep all government and government-aided offices and institutions shut on September 1 as a mark of respect to Mukherjee. If the funeral takes place on another day, that day, too, shall be observed similarly.
