Even though long distance travel services began two months ago, passengers were not allowed to travel by train to destinations within the state and bookings for these stations was not allowed.
A Central R official said, "The unlock guidelines issued by state government has permitted inter-district travel. Hence, we have now allowed the travel and booking of tickets for destinations within Maharashtra for trains from September 2."
Before this guideline, trains were provided halts at en route stations in Maharashtra but passengers were only allowed to board the coaches for onward journey outside the state but alighting was not allowed.
