So far, India has recorded 36,21,245 confirmed COVID-19 cases, including 64,469 deaths. Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu have reported the highest number of cases. However, infections are rising rapidly in states like Karnataka, Uttar Pradesh and West Bengal. Yet, India’s recovery rate continues to rise and now stands at 76.6 percent. Coronavirus in Assam LIVE updates | Assam reports 10 more COVID-19 deaths, 3,266 new infections
The COVID-19 death toll of Assam rose to 306 with 10 more people succumbing to the disease, while the state's caseload went up to 1,09,040 after 3,266 fresh infections were recorded, Health and Family Welfare Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said.
The 3266 new cases, which is the state's second-highest spike in a single day, include 700 from Kamrup Metropolitan, 233 from Golaghat and 189 each from Cachar and Jorhat. The steepest one-day spike of 4,593 cases was reported on August 12. (PTI)

Coronavirus in Sikkim LIVE updates | Sikkim reports fourth COVID-19 death
A 50-year-old COVID-19 patients died in Sikkim yesterday, following which the state's toll rose to four, said Sonam Bhutia, the state Information, Education and Communication (IEC) officer. He had comorbid conditions, including kidney ailments, said the official.
Meanwhile, the state has recorded 25 new COVID-19 cases in the last 24 hours, taking the tally to 1,653, Bhutia said. (PTI)
