JODHPUR: Around 10,000 students will appear for the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) starting from Tuesday in Jodhpur.
Many felt that given the threat of infection spread, examinations should be postponed and for saving a year of students, their lives could not be compromised.
“Spread of coronavirus is at its peak with positive cases busting records daily. In such a situation, endangering the lives of students by holding the exam would be an absolutely unwise decision,” said Rohit Mathur, whose daughter is appearing in the exam.
Though, there has been assurance that all the precautionary measures will be in place at the exam centres, many parents and students are not convinced.
“Our preparations have been badly affected due to the lockdown and many of us are not as confident as we should be. In such a depressed atmosphere, holding the examination is not right,” said Ankita Choudhary, a student.
On the other hand, many feel that postponement was not a solution, especially when many of the examinations have already taken place and continue to be conducted.
“As a student, I have worked hard for so long and cancellation of the exam would mean putting the entire year at stake. Many exams have been held recently and nothing untoward was reported. Likewise, these exams could be easily held,” said Pranav Tak, a JEE aspirant.
