PATIALA: The health authorities in Patiala have filed a complaint against the village panchayats passing a resolution against the health teams and cops in order to prevent the sampling of Covid-19 or isolating the infected patients in hospitals.
“We filed a complaint with police against the Ageta village Panchayat with the police for passing a resolution against police and health teams and then making the resolution viral. Such acts are demoralizing our health teams that have been fighting against the Covid-19”, said Patiala epidemiologist Dr Sumit.
It is learned that some village panchayats of the Ageta village, Dhanauri village, Dhanaura village, and some other villages of Patiala district has passed a resolution against getting conducting the Covid sampling of the villagers or getting any positive patient isolated in the hospital against their wish.
Darshan Singh, sarpanch of Dhanauri village said, “The health teams without our consent would not be allowed to take Covid samples of our villagers according to our resolution as now people are scared after rumours of fake positive results are making the rounds. We have been holding the camps for samplings in the past and we would definitely extend our cooperation to the health department but they will have to conduct samplings in our presence only.”
Patiala civil surgeon Dr Harish Malhotra said, “We are trying to persuade the village Panchayats over this. The rumours are being spread drastically. Our health teams are working very hard and people should cooperate with us.”
