GURUGRAM: The steady rise in
Covid-19 cases is not the only cause of worry for the health department. It is also up against the task of chasing patients infected by the virus. Many of them, after submitting their samples for
testing, went out of station without even waiting for the results to arrive. Five
police complaints have now been registered against individuals and private labs in the last one week for different reasons, which includes providing wrong contact details and repeating Covid-19 tests.
One person, a resident of Badshapur, against whom the complaint was filed was traced in Amritsar, said officials. Another such patient from Fazilpur did not wait for his reports and went out of station.
“A person who shows Covid symptoms and gets himself or herself tested must wait for the results and be in home quarantine. These two patients did not wait for their reports, and have infected several people on the way to their destination city. This is sheer irresponsibility. This is the reason, the health department filed complaints against them,” said Dr MP Singh, urban nodal local officer, district health department.
Of the five complaints, FIRs have been filed in two cases — one of Wazirabad and the other of Sukhrali. The first
FIR mentions a 48-year-old woman, who repeated her Covid-19 test two days later. The woman tested positive and when the health department team reached her house for contact tracing, she told them she had taken another test and had tested negative. A health official said that one prescription mentioned she was symptomatic and the other said she was asymptomatic.
The second FIR names five people from Sukhrali who tested positive and gave wrong addresses while getting tested. “They gave the address of a doctor. When officials verified, the addresses were found to be wrong and their permanent address was that of Delhi,” an official said.
