The chief executive officer (CEO) of Zilla Panchayats (ZP) Agnelo Fernandes on Tuesday wrote again to the South Goa municipalities  strictly asking to submit their respective annual development plans for the year 2020-21.

“In view of the Section 184F of the Goa Municipality Act 1917, you are once again requested to submit the same in proper format as per direction of the court,’’ said Fernandes.  He pointed out in the letter that  the municipalities of South Goa have failed to respond to his earlier letter dated April 30, wherein he had had asked to submit the annual development plans.

The annual developmental plans of the municipalities are important as they are required for incorporation in the district plan.

In another letter to the BDOs, Fernandes asked to direct the village panchayats to submit the annual development plans as per the memorandum issued by the director of panchayats.

“It is regretting to inform you that only six panchayats of the south have submitted their annual plan to the ZP office as per the directions of the director of panchayats. You are requested to direct all the panchayats from respective blocks to send the annual development plan of the year 2020 2021,” the letter states.

Sources informed that the civic bodies and the panchayats of South Goa have been dragging their feet on preparing the annual development plans and submitting them to the district planning committee to incorporate in the district plan and, hence, the district plan has not become a reality in the recent
past.
