Jamiroquai’s frontman, Jay Kay, is a big fan of high-end supercars, but as the industry is shifting towards electricity, perhaps this is a good time to check out some of the best zero-emission cars, like, say, the Porsche Taycan Turbo S.

Before jumping behind the wheel of the electric sedan, Jay Kay’s only driven the 918 Spyder and his Ferrari LaFerrari, and those are no battery-electric rides but hybrids, so his experience with such vehicles is pretty much close to none.

But what does he think about the Taycan Turbo S, and most importantly about the linear power delivery, instant torque and mind-boggling performance, not to mention the fact that it has room for actual adults at the back and a usable cargo area? We’ll get to that part in a bit, but first, let’s go through some of the specs of the model.

Sitting at the top of the Taycan range, the Turbo S has two electric motors that deliver a total system output of up to 750 HP and 774 pound-feet (1,050 Nm) of torque on Overboost. In a straight line, the 60 mph (96 km/h) mark is hit in just 2.6 seconds, while flat out, it will keep going up to 161 mph (260 km/h).

The EPA-rated range is 192 miles (309 km) with the 93.4 kWh lithium-ion battery fully charged, and pricing in the USA starts at $185,000 for the 2020MY, $34,100 more than the 670 HP Taycan Turbo and $81,200 more than the entry-level 522 HP Taycan 4S.
