Thamarai Selvi from Tirupur district got married to Kathiravan, 28, of Palkara Thottam in Palakkarai on July 2, 2019. He was a farmer.
The Negamam police said Thamarai had been suffering from thyroid disorders and had been under treatment. She depressed due to this.
On Sunday evening, Thamarai and Kathiravan attended a wedding reception. Later, she insisted him on taking her for the wedding function too, the following morning. However, her husband denied as he had another work.
KG Sivakumar, DSP, Pollachi sub-division, said, Thamarai Selvi was angry with her husband. On Monday night, Thamarai called her mother and asked her to take away Yasavi from her. Following this, she hung the phone and switched it off.
After the call, Thamarai’s younger brother K Giridharan rushed to Palakkarai to check on his sister. Thamarai did not open the door. He broke open the house and found his sister hanging and Yasavi hanging from a wooden angle.
Giridharan informed his family members and police, who rushed to the spot. Both the death bodies were sent to Coimbatore Medical College and Hospital (CMCH) for postmortem.
The DSP confirmed that there was no foul play behind the mother-daughter’s death. Further investigations were on.
