Samsung launched its next-gen foldable smartphone Galaxy Z Fold 2 today in an online event streamed on its global website.

The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 2 sports a massive 7.6-inch full-HD+ (1,768×2,208 pixels) foldable, Dynamic AMOLED Infinity-O Display with a 120Hz refresh rate and 22.5:18 aspect ratio and 6.2-inch Super AMOLED Infinity Flex Display with 816×2,260 pixels resolution and 25:9 aspect ratio on the cover. The foldable smartphone is powered by an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon865+ processor, runs on the Android 10 operating system topped with One UI 2.5, supports 5G, comes with one SIM card slot, and supports eSIM. It packs 12GB RAM with 512GB internal storage.

As for the camera, the foldable smartphone sports a triple rear camera setup with a 12MP wide-angle sensor with f/1.8 aperture and OIS, 12MP Ultra Wide sensor with f/2.2 aperture, and 12MP Telephoto lens with f/2.4 aperture. It supports 4K video recording as well as slow-motion videos at 960fps. It also houses 10-megapixel selfie camera sensors on both the cover screen as well as main display with an f/2.2 lens.

Samsung has introduced a new hinge mechanism called sweeper to improve the longevity of the foldable smartphone. This new hinge design will allow the phone to stand at different angles. You can also customize the color of the hinge – Metallic Silver, Metallic Gold, Metallic Red, and Metallic Blue with the help of an online tool offered by Samsung.

The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 2 is equipped with a 4500mAh battery with fast charging and wireless reverse charging support.

The device comes in two colour variants Mystic Bronze and Mystic Black. There’s also a limited edition variant – Galaxy Z Fold2 Thom Browne Edition which is in partnership with the iconic New York fashion house Thom Browne.

As of now the price in India and sale details have not been announced; however, the phone will retail at $1,999 (roughly Rs. 1,48,300) in the US. Pre-orders open today in select markets around the world.
