IPL 2020: 'Suresh Raina Will Realise What He is Missing With All the Money He's Going to Lose'
After Suresh Raina left UAE citing personal reasons, CSK owner N Srinivasan has bashed the stylish left-hander for his rash decision. IPL 2020 is supposed to start on September 19, and Srinivasan has said that Raina will regret his decision and would want to come back.
After Suresh Raina left UAE citing personal reasons, CSK owner N Srinivasan has bashed the stylish left-hander for his rash decision. IPL 2020 is supposed to start on September 19, and Srinivasan has said that Raina will regret his decision and would want to come back. “The season has not begun yet and Raina will certainly realise what he is missing and certainly all the money (a salary of 11 crores per season) he is going to lose,” Srinivasan told Outlook.
Raina's decision was surprising, to say the least, since two of their players had already been detected with Covid-19, and the team was banking on its senior players. “My thinking is that if you are reluctant or not happy, go back. I don’t force anyone to do anything ... sometimes success gets into your head,” he further said.
There were reliable reports from health officials suggesting that ever since the team landed in Dubai, Raina's room did not have proper balconies, that made him claustrophobic. Also, he wanted a similar room like MS Dhoni, who had balcony in his room. “Cricketers are like prima donnas ... like the temperamental actors of the olden days. Chennai Super Kings have always been like a family and all seniors players have learned to co-exist,” said Srinivasan.
While there were some more reports suggesting that Raina flew back, fearing his own health.
He is CSK's highest run-getter till now and has featured in all the ten seasons of the IPL. Also he is the second in list of highest run-scorers in IPL, after Virat Kohli.
