Tennis fans across the globe will be able to see their favourite live sport once again as the US Open is set to kick off from August 31. The US Open 2020 matches will be played at the Flushing Meadows, New York. The matches will be played without any audience so all fans are advised not to come to the stadium and watch their favourite stars play on TV.
Serbian ace Novak Djokovic will be eyeing to lift his 18th Grand Slam in a roster that misses both Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal for the first time since the 1999 edition of the tournament. Djokovic will be up against 107th-ranked Damir Dzumhur in Round 1 of the tournament. The match will be played at the Arthur Ashe Stadium.
Meanwhile, in the US Open 2020 women's line up, Serena Williams will aim once again at winning her 24th Grand Slam, which will equal Margaret Court's all-time record. On the other hand, world number two Simona Halep is missing from the tournament due to Covid-19 concerns.
"After weighing up all the factors involved and with the exceptional circumstances in which we are living, I have decided that I will not travel to New York to play the U.S. Open," Halep had tweeted.
Apart from Halep, the reigning US Open champion Bianca Andreescu of Canada, Elina Svitolina, Kiki Bertens and Belinda Bencic will also not be participating.
