How to reactivate an NPS account

National Pension System (NPS) subscribers are required to contribute a minimum of Rs 1,000 every financial year. The minimum deposit amount is Rs 500. If the subscriber fails to make the required contribution, the account and PRAN (Permanent Retirement Account Number) are designated as ‘freezed’. Here is how one can reactivate a ‘freezed’ NPS account.

Application
The specified form by NPS for the purpose of unfreezing PRAN is Form UOS-S10-A. The form can be obtained from the bank or post office where the NPS account is being maintained. Documents
A copy of the subscriber’s PRAN card must be enclosed along with the form.

Verification
Once the application is submitted, the authorities verify whether the contribution accepted is greater than the minimum amount prescribed to keep the account active. If the amount is found in order, the application is processed and the PRAN is activated.
