Because of the increasing cases of COVID-19 in Chandrapur city of Maharashtra, there will be a lockdown with strict rules from September 3 to a week.

According to the notification issued by Collector Ajay Gulhane on Sunday, all shops including items will remain closed during this period.

She said that only the drug shops and emergency services would remain operational during the seven-day lockdown. According to a press release issued by the District Information Officer, in the last 36 hours, after the arrival of 270 new cases of COVID-19, the infection cases in the district increased to 2,344.

He said that 26 people have also died so far from COVID-19 in the district. According to the release, COVID-19 is under treatment in 1,094 patients in the district and 1,224 people have become infection-free.
