Bloemfontein Celtic and Polokwane City shared the spoils in their Absa Premiership clash at Tuks Stadium on Sunday afternoon as they drew 0-0.

There was very little created in the final third by either team in the opening half as the battle was mostly focused in midfield, where the attacking build-ups often broke down.

Celtic had a decent chance to threaten the City defence from a corner kick when Mzwanele Mahashe rose high to get his head to the ball, but George Chigova did well to tip it over the bar.

Mahashe's effort was Celtic's only shot on target for the first half, while Polokwane managed two; both of which failed to truly test goalkeeper Sipho Chaine.

The second half was off to a slow start, but just past the hour mark Charlton Mashumba had a good opportunity when he was picked out by a cross from the right. He just couldn't keep his header down.

Rise and Shine seemed to build some momentum after Mashumba's effort and forced a save from Chaine when the ball was cut back for substitute Puleng Tlolane, but his powerful shot was straight at the goalkeeper.

City put pressure on Celtic again in the last few minutes when a dangerous cross came in from the right wing. Defender Ryan De Jongh cleared the ball behind but it was close to finding his own net.

In the end neither side had the quality in the final third to find the decisive goal and had to settle for a point each.

Polokwane remain bottom of the standings, while Celtic inch into the top eight.
