110-year-old Covid patient discharged in Kerala

Pathu is the third patient in the above 100 age-group to be discharged
THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: A 110-year-old woman – who was admitted to govt medical college, Manjeri, after she tested positive for Covid-19 on August 18 – was discharged on Saturday. She was admitted with mild symptoms and was the primary contact of her daughter who later tested positive for the virus.
According to a press note issued by the department of health, Pathu, a native of Randathani, was the oldest patient in Kerala to recover from Covid-19. While Kerala government has been insisting on the need for reverse quarantine to prevent infection in aged people, Pathu is the third patient in the above 100 agegroup to be discharged. She tested negative10 days after her admission.
The presence of mild symptoms has been crucial in their recovery. Pathu had contracted infection from her daughter, raising concerns about the effectiveness of reverse quarantine being mooted in state. Pathu was calm during her hospitalization, ssaid health authorities. Her family is happy about her recovery and expressed their gratitude to health department and government.
Pathu will be kept under observation for 14 days at home. Covid nodal officer Dr P Shinaz Babu, deputy superintendent Dr Afzal, residents medical officers Dr Jaleel, Dr Zaheer Nelliparamban gave her a sendoff at the hospital.
